Kent & Paige Parrish
Indonesia, Asia Pacific
Hello, Thank you for checking out our profile page. Paige and I along with our 3 kiddos Chloe, Levi and Caleb have been serving as global workers to the nation of Indonesia since 2018. Prior to serving in Indonesia, we were in the Philippines for almost 10 years working with a house church planting movement and serving as an administrator for a local seminary.
During our last term (Indonesia) we had the honor of working alongside refugees from the Middle East (14,000) who were living in Jakarta Indonesia. Almost all of these refugees had the same story. They were just trying to create a better life for themselves and their family. Most of these refugees had no income and very little financial support. We were able to partner with many of these refugees by helping to provide food, medicine, clothing and other necessities for daily living. The one question they would always ask is, "Why are you Christians being so kind to us?" By being the hands and feet of Jesus in a very tangible way many of these refugees saw love in action. I am happy to report that many of these forgotten folks have been baptized and are now followers of Jesus. We are so grateful for the generosity of so many of our partners who gave us the resources to reach the least of these.
We are currently stateside on the itineration trail raising support for our next term. The goal is to depart for the field in the fall of 2023. We have raised about 83% of our monthly budget so we believe this goal is very possible. We have 3 ministry goals for our next term in Indonesia.
- English Center - We will be starting an english / community center in 2024. During our last term we discovered that so many young Indonesians want to learn english from a native english speaker. Having a firm grasp on the english language opens up a whole new door of opportunity for employment opportunities. English is the academic, political and business language of the world. This will give us a tremendous opportunity to build relationships with young people so that we can share the good news.
- Orphan Rescue Project - A local church in Wamena Papua is currently housing around 20 orphaned and at risk children. They converted part of their church into an orphanage. Many of these children are orphaned because their parents have passed away from AIDS. The problem is that there are literally hundreds of children who are either orphaned or living in very vulnerable situations. Our goal is to help raise $100,000 to help build a permanent orphanage that will house at least 120 children.
- Church Planting - We are so excited to be able to partner with 7 church plants in Papua Indonesia! Many pastors are meeting in homes but have grown to the point where they need a more permanent location. Our goal is to raise $5,000 per church to help build a church facility. We want to help these church plants create capacity so that more people can hear the good news.
We would love to have you follow our ministry. Just send us a quick email and we'll get you signed up for our e-newsletter list. We also have a fb page as well.
For the unfinished task,
Kent, Paige, Chloe, Levi and Caleb
